A mother and daughter from South Africa got pregnant for the same man and gave birth to their babies just four days apart. In a related event, a Syrian mother and her daughter have given birth at the same time after undergoing Caesarean Sections together at a Turkish hospital. The South African woman, 38 year old Mildred Mashego, learned that her 19-year-old daughter, Patricia Mashego, was also pregnant and that they would be due in the same month. A German driver who parked his car back in 1997 then forgot where he parked it, has now been reunited with the car exactly 20 years after, and it was found at the exact spot he left it. Authorities in Frankfurt found the car in a garage in a building which is set for demolition. The car was rotting in a garage all these years and is now unfit to drive. The car owner had phoned the authorities to report the car missing after he couldn’t find it. After he searched and still didn’t see the car, he assumed it had been stolen but it has now been discovered that the Volkswagen Passat had just been hidden from view and was actually exactly where he left it. Police drove the 76-year-old man to be reunited with his Volkswagen Passat. The car had only been discovered because it had been parked in a building which is being regenerated. A paediatric doctor, Dr. Juliet Ochi, has urged mothers and care-givers to avoid the use of medicated soap in washing the genitals of their female babies to prevent infection. Ochi, a doctor at the Enugu State Teaching Hospital, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Enugu. According to her, it is better to use toilet soap. “The genitals of the female have useful bacteria that protect it. The use of medicated soap could damage such bacteria, thereby causing an infection in that region. “Medicated soap is meant for the skin. It is only on the prescription of a dermatologist that such soap should be used. “Some (bacteria) are important and protect the region from contacting infection, so using medicated soap on it will mean removing them. “Not all bacteria in the genital region are bad, some are very important and protect the vagina from germs. “If you use medicated soap on the region, it means you are weakening the vagina’s defence system, ther...

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) said it had arrested a former Kano State High Court Judge, Justice Kabiru Auta, for an alleged N220 million fraud. Spokesperson of the commission, Mrs Rasheedat Okoduwa, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday. Okoduwa said the suspect was detained on Tuesday when he honoured an invitation by the commission over allegations of criminal conspiracy, cheating and forgery. Auta, according to her, allegedly conspired with some other persons to defraud a Kano businessman named Alhaji Bashir Yakasai of N220 million. “The matter was referred to the commission after it had been reported to the National Judicial Council which had constituted a committee to investigate the allegations. “The amount involved had been fraudulently obtained from Yakasai by Auta and his accomplice, Bashir Sufi, on the pretext that they were acting on behalf of the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon.  The Lagos State Government this morning warned traders in the habit of displaying their wares on the road for sale beyond the confines of the market thereby causing traffic gridlock and other environmental nuisance to desist henceforth otherwise markets where such illegal activities are perpetrated would be shut down till further notice.  Akinwunmi Ambode, who handed down the warning at a meeting with leaders of Agbado Oke-Odo Market held at Lagos House in Ikeja, said the activities of the traders who are in such habit had reached a level which the State Government could no longer condone, hence the need for a final warning.  The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tunji Bello, said aside causing avoidable and needless traffic, the traders were also in the habit of dumping their refuse on the road, thereby causing environmental and health hazards. The South Gauteng High Court in South Africa has ruled that public schools promote more than one religion in the country. This comes after six public schools were accused by OGod organization of promoting Christianity over other faiths. During the case hearing in Court today,  the organisation for Religious Education and Democracy argues that there’s religious bias in South African public schools. While the Federation of Governing Bodies of South African Schools and Solidarity, which represents the six schools the case was brought against, says that the Constitution allows public schools to identify with one religion and promote it. They also argued that it's permitted in terms of the constitutional, legal framework and existing case law. Handing down the ruling, Judge Willem van Der Linde ruled that the adoption of a single religion at schools would disadvantage pupils. A 30-year-old British woman spotted “walking naked and drunk in the street” while on holiday in Gran Canaria has been arrested for abandoning her two young children. Police in the Canary Islands say the two youngsters, aged just two and four, were found in an apartment “hungry and dirty”. The mother has not been named. The late-night incident is said to have happened in the popular tourist resort of Mogan in the south-west of Gran Canaria. Witnesses were said to have been shocked when they saw a naked woman walking along the street outside where she was staying “in an obvious state of drunkenness”. A budget Japanese airline has apologised after a man in a wheelchair was forced to drag himself up 17 steps to board a plane. Hideto Kijima, 44, had been able to board an outbound flight with Vanilla Air thanks to the help of friends. But after holidaying in Amami, a small island off the south coast of Japan, staff said company rules barred them from physically carrying him, and that if he could not get on board himself he wouldn’t be allowed to fly. There were no other facilities to help disabled passengers get from the tarmac to the plane door. Mr Kijima, who is paralysed from the waist down, was forced to get out of his wheelchair and physically drag himself up the steps with his arms. Vanilla Air, which is the budget arm of All Nippon Airways, apologised for what happened. A spokesman told AFP: “We’re sorry that we caused him that hardship.” The airline will now make it compulsory to have arrangements for disabled passengers at all airports they use.
