"Most times we always believe in doing same thing in the same way, funny enough we will be expecting a different result"..... This is the case of many artist, they believe in doing what others have done thinking they can get to their destinations by taking the same route at all time, why can't you create your own style?, profound your own promotional theory that will propel your career to another level, if you think you can do it the same way with the likes of the so called stars then think about this, Why is it so difficult for those stars in quote to use their same logic to blow for their Signed Artists?, why are their artists struggling for relevance and gasping for breath?, don't fool yourself.
Consistency is what you need, Some will advice you "That you need big producers to work with so that people can download your Song, I laugh when I see it on your Artwork, "Mixed and Mastered By" my friend it's not your song that people download, it's simply the work of the producer, why is your final mix not sounding like that of the super stars or well known artists despite the fact that the two songs were produced and mixed by same producer or Sound engineer, the answer is simple, the stars are well known and the producer can spend much time to work on their songs unlike you that come to him simply because you needed his signature to be on your track, Am sure you will agree with me that most upcoming artist songs are mixed by an apprentice to this well known producers or you think "Suka" will sit for hours mixing my Song, who sabi me? all I paid for is his signature and I will have it, even producer produces for stars for free while you the upcoming pays for the work they do for free for the stars, or how do you explain it, when a producer charge you 300k per track when he did not collect a dime from the so called stars? It's just a business strategy it's as simple as that.
I am not saying you shouldn't work with well known artists or producers but all am saying is that you work on yourself first if you are good enough, they might call you for a remix or even post or talk about your song on their social media channels, or you think they don't download too?, of cause they do, they only pretends as if they don't, they know their abilities and when they see pressure they simply associate with you in order to stay relevant,
I will honour the invitation from anyone that want to challenge me on this, Upcoming artist has the best song than the so called stars, quote me. The problem of upcoming arts is lack of self confidence and consistency.
Finally my fellows.
(1)get a producer to work with meaning the one that really believes in you and is ready to spend time with you,
(2) Get a manager that believes in you and is ready to manage your talent, you should know that anyone that don't believe in you can never represent you well, hard to believe?, but it is the real truth, even your bestfriend might not download your song not to talk of sharing it, my manager ones did, I only pretended as if I didn't know in order not to create pressure that I don't need then,
(3) Rehearse much and record more cause the more you rehearse the better you become and the more you record the more the confidence you build.
(4) promote your work to an affordable level and don't be a lobbyist "Too much familiarities breed contest" don't look for free job, be ready to pay for anything that you need so much that when it's your turn no one will call you for free performance, even if you will perform for free that will be your own choice to make and not because you are in debted to someone, you won't be able to cope with such an impression.
(5) Be careful of this set of people DJs, OAPS, Show Organisers and Promoter. Try as much as you can to avoid confrontation or direct dealings with them, they can bring you down as fast as they can bring you up, remember I said it above "Too much familiarities breed contest" leave all of them to your manager, they are strictly your manager's headache.
With this little above listed advice am sure the sky would be your starting point.
Thanks for Your Time, See You at the Top
