Artpal as usual brought again to you an exclusive interview with one of the world finest Dj’s of our time. Read up as we explore the world of Mr and Mrs Precious Ajayi Oluwajuwon.
Can you tell us a little about your background?
Can you tell us a little about your background?
I became a
Dj in 1998 but left it to further my education in Ogun State University now
called Olabisi Onabanjo University ago iwoye between 2000-2005 which I read
Industrial & Labour Relations.
So
you've been a Dj for how long now?
For like 16
to 17years now.
And how
did you come about the name JIGGA
I came
about the name Dj Jigga.like we all know the meaning of Jig, it simply means Rock
so the person making happen is Jigga.
And what
was your family's take on your profession?
well it was
kind of tough for me then to convince them, because they have this believe that
it's bad boys that does this kind of job,but on the long run I was able to
change their mindset about it.

So how
were you sustaining when they turned their back on you?
They did
not turn their back absolutely on me, because I'm still having their support
kind of....but not deeply.
Any
regrets so far?
yea, I have
had some regrets....one is, a party which they started fighting and one group
won over the other though it's a confraternity anyway, so the group that lost
reinforced but met the absent of the other group, so they had to bounce on me
and my boys and I was stabbed in the process.
Another one
was when i had to play at a student party in Eruwa which I faced a lot of
encounters that I can't even talk about now and on getting to the event some of
my set were not working, I just had to look for a way to get d party done. And
a whole lot like dat.....
Heard a
story about DJ JIMMY JATT whereby a gun was pointed at him to play a particular
song or there about. Have you ever experienced or find yourself in a similar
state before?
No I've
not, but I've been in a party where student started their wahala and they
started shooting but I can't leave, firstly because of my set and secondly I
don't know where to run to.
{Hmmm}
So what lead you into Discing, was it passion or the money?
Dj Jigga with friends at mave 21 pre-opening |
well it's
passion but I started in a funny way, I went to learn barbing but never would I
stay at the barber's shop but instead I'll go and sit at the Dj's shop close to
our shop which I eventually started training with him and I thank God for my
life today.
So how
does your wife sees your job?
well she
doesn't have much problem with it, although at times she does take some naughty
steps when different girls calls or snaps pictures with me and she eventually
get to see it one way or the other but still we settle it.
Hope you
performing your rights as a good husband and father (smiles)
Definitely
So who
are the big stars you've played alongside with?
A lot, I've
played for D'banj , also for Olamide, Davido, Iyanya at the leadcity university show, Skales and I are even close now because
we've met in several shows, Reminisce, Skuki, D'prince, B-red, mayD and I've
also played alongside Dj Humility & lots more like that.
And with
all this weird stories surrounding your profession, do you still love it?
I have no choice.
If you
were to choose another profession aside been a DJ what would it be?
I can't say for now but until then.
How do
you cope with your female admirers?
Hmmmmm well
with the help of God I'm coping.
A word for
upcoming professional Dj's to be?
Well my
advice for upcoming Djs is to remain focus, though there are lots of bad
temptations in this game, just know what you're doing. At times you might feel
like looking back when you encounter some problems but just be prayerful that
would be all.
